31 Days To Go...

31 days to go!

I can’t believe how quickly the marathon is coming around.

Deciding to compete in the marathon, (the day after the London marathon 2017) seems like yesterday and now it’s literally in a months time...

Pulling my hamstring two months before the marathon wasn’t the best of ideas by me and as a result, I wasn’t able to train for three weeks (although in that time we did see lots of snow and freezing temperatures, so this kind of worked out well).

It is hard getting back into training when you haven’t run for so long and getting that motivation back isn’t easy, I tell ya that!

I am now back running five times a week, avoiding the streets of Elstree and Borehamwood as much as I can and eating more carbs than I’ve eaten in my life.

So, the longest I’ve ran is 11 miles and I think I’m doing alright (well I like to hope so). My longest distance will be on Sunday when I run the London Landmarks half marathon which should be fun, obviously the fun part is weather depending.

After that, another 3 long distance runs to go until the dreaded 26.2 miles 😱.

I will be running the marathon for Kisharon, who provide vital support to hundreds of Jewish children and adults with learning difficulties and their families. I am so close on reaching my target, I would really appreciate any sponsorships.

9 Weeks To Go...

9 weeks to go!

So last night I experienced my first sober night out.

As soon as I started training I said to myself, no more alcohol until I run through that finish line.

I’m basically all or nothing, as you can probably tell.

I haven’t really struggled too much, maybe only on a Friday after a stressful week I do fancy a nice glass of wine (wow I am sounding like an alcoholic here).

Back to last night. Watching 15 drunk people on a night out is not actually as bad as it sounds.

It did make me realise I don’t need five gin and tonics on a night out.

However, the only time I was like get home was at 3.30am when everyone was sitting in one of those McDonald’s type restaurants (can they even be called restaurants?) watching everyone eat there alcohol consumption.

Wow, that is an experience! If you love people watching that is a number one place to go.

I got home at 4.45am. I genuinely think I deserve a medal.

Anyway, when I woke up this morning  reading my girls group ‘Omg I’m so hungover’, ‘wow my head hurts’ and ‘someone get me food’ I just sat there laughing (sorry girls).

Back to running. Annoyingly, I am injured at the moment having pulled my hamstring, so I am slightly behind where I wanted to be.

Having ran my longest distance last week - 11 miles, I do hope to be back on the roads this week and fingers crossed I get to run a half marathon.

First sober night out, and back to training I go....only 9 weeks to go, please have a look at my page.

81 Days To Go...

So, nearly 80 days to go to the big day.

When people ask me how I’m feeling, I don’t know what to say. Firstly? because I NEVER talk about my feelings and secondly, because I’m absolutely shitting myself!

Thousands of thoughts, and questions go through my mind, where do I go if I need the toilet? What happens if my tummy starts rumbling and I’m feeling a little peckish? What happens if I get caught by BBC and they decide to interview me? So if anyone has these answers please let me know!

Last weekend, I ran two of my longest distances yet, nearly 12 miles.

My run on Saturday consisted of running to brunch. Knowing that there’s a big skinny cappuccino, shakshuka and some great company (shout out to Shelley), really helps.

On Sunday, it was girlfriend duties. I ran to watch a group of Essex boys play Jewish football. This didn’t quite have the same impact as the previous day,

Annoyingly I have been ill this week so running has been off the schedule. I never thought the day would come that I’d actually be excited to go out in the cold and start running again.

Anyways, I would really appreciate any donations, I am running for the most amazing cause! Please have a read of my page to find out for yourselves! Xx

98 Days To Go...

It was quite a week. My first full week back at work. WOW, that was a challenge.

Running after work was always going to be hard, however, this week I decided to give myself a change of scenery.

Having toured around every single gym in Farringdon, Holborn and St Paul’s I finally found one.

Finding a place to put my clothes whilst I run is a lot more challenging than you think. So with my new membership, I said goodbye to the  lovely streets of Borehamwood and Radlett and said hello to the hustle and bustle of the City of London.

The top two things I’ve noticed running in London:

* There is no such thing as the runners nod. When running in Borehamwood, I’d find that you would pass someone and they’d give you a nod or if your lucky a high five, not in London!
* It’s a lot harder. I thought I had a good sense of direction, but clearly not! I did find myself on a few occasions pausing my run and having to look at my maps to see exactly where I was. Ending up at Tower Bridge and having to get back to St Paul’s, when you have no idea where you’re going is harder than you think.

Anyway, not getting home until after 8 now has taken its toll. I’m now having to put my kindle away in the mornings and get Eastenders on.

Don’t forget to donate!

109 days to go...

For those of you that I don’t see or speak to regularly, won’t know this, but I am
running the 2018 London Marathon.

If you do know me however, you’ll know I never talk about running, never mention the fact I have just gone for a run and never mention that I’m tired.

The London Marathon has always been on my bucket list. Watching it on TV last year, I said to myself, ‘I'm going to do it next year'.

Eight months later I’m more motivated than ever to complete those, what will feel like, 500 miles.

To me, running seemed ok, an avid gym goer, who could jog half-an-hour on the treadmill not a problem. Half an hour run up Elstree Hill - the biggest problem, EVER!

As I fully start my training this month, I’ll be writing about my journey in the rain, snow and hopefully some sun, to the finish line!

Enjoy reading months of me complaining and the stories my training has to offer.

Oh. And don't forget to donate. I will be running the marathon for Kisharon - An amazing special needs charity that provides support to hundreds of Jewish children & Adults with learning difficulties and their families.
